NUO Challenge Ornament #1 – Wine Cork Tassels

Welcome to the official start of the No Ugly Ornament Challenge!  We’re off to a whiz bang start!!!  That was sarcasm.  Yesterday afternoon I gathered the kids, supplies and all my good intentions and this is what we ended up with.

I’m going to stop the video there for your benefit, especially if you get motion sickness; and to save a smidgen of dignity for my family.  Here’s what went down after I said, “stop”.  The cameraman fell over, the two little ones started bickering, but not before my daughter announced that she had to go poop.

Getting back to the ornament: 1. It wasn’t as kid-friendly as I had hoped.  In fact, my kids lost interest before we were done and retreated to their Legos.  2. Um, they aren’t completely ugly, BUT, you can see the picture and form your own opinion, I’ve formed mine :)  Seriously though, it has potential.  3. Use a drill, I think I ruined that needle.  4. Since I cut off the video before we finished HERE is a tutorial from Indie Fixx.

Don’t worry, tomorrow will be better!  At least that’s what I keep telling myself!  Here’s one more clip…because everyone needs a little American Badger smile.

  1. Great concept! Thinking they need more festive color. How about adding buttons to them. I think I am to have to give this a try.

  2. I love that you reused some old corks for this! I think it would be fun to glitter the corks too, for a different look.
Also, your post cracked me up! Kids will be kids... yours are pretty cute though!
