Felt Phrase Banners
Speaking of fun, this project is a great way to take your favorite phrases, or maybe your word for the year, and turn them into snazzy banners you’ll want to hang throughout the house. These banners require little time or supplies and instead of relying on a dowel for hanging I'm using a straw, yep, a straw!
Supplies Needed
- felt
- scissors
- marker
- straw
- string
Directions
Step 1: Write out your message. You don’t need perfect handwriting but using a ruler will help you to space out your letters.
Step 2: Cut out your letters. Again don’t worry about being perfect, just trim around the outside of your letters so that none of the markings remain.
Step 3: Glue on your straw. Place the straw a couple inches from the top of the banner and glue it down. Then cover the straw by folding over and gluing down the top.
I used standard sized sheets of felt which were the same width as the straws I was using. If yours don’t line up you may have to trim the straw so it doesn’t show.
*UPDATE: Doh! I forgot to mention the next step. Weave the string through the straw, tie up the ends, center your banner, and it's ready for hanging!
There you have it, a fun felt banner fit for a queen!
